2009 Summer Camp

Summer Camp 2009 took us back to scenic and beautiful Camp Babcock-Hovey.

Opening campfire, what a great location along the lake!

Merit Badge class in Scoutcraft...with Otis!

Scouts receiving instruction at Archery

Pillow fights on a log, what a fun challenge!

Polar Bear. That water was freeeezzziiiinnng! Yowza!

Dining Hall. One of our Scouts balancing a staff totem!

A better view of the dining hall from our corner in the North.

Scouts taking Lifesaving Merit Badge

Shotgun. If you look closely you can see the clay was hit, nice shot!

Wednesday lunch in our campsite, we were visited by some parents and staff members.

We were treated to Swedish Pancakes, a welcome surprise over just hot dogs.

Wednesday's campfire was started with a procession of historic reproductions of US flags.

That our own OA Representative who was elected Chief of the Week and emceed the campfire program.

Our Troop preparing for their skit.

Is that Kiss on stage?

Yes it was. Scouting rocks was the theme, and the Wednesday campfire had aig guitar bands. It was a rock'n'roll atmosphere!

A Scout is clean. The pyro patrol had the cleanest lean-to. This one was the worst, and not surprisingly had a few visitors both day and night.

The Scouts in this lean-to hopefully learned their lesson. You don't take food in your lean-to, and cleanliness has a purpose that extends beyond just looking good, but rather can help keep your gear in your posession (several items were lost through the week from this group) and help keep your gear protected from critters.

Our campsite, Seneca!

Cooking Merit Badge produces some tasty treats, but not everyone is convinced (look in background)!

Rocketry in Space Exploration Merit Badge.

This is harder than it seems!

Found this critter in the electric lean-to. These are the normal residents, we're just visitors.

Taking careful aim!

Time for Dodge ball! This team went on to become Champions!

Yes, that is Otis in the colorful outfit.

Otis and Cobble!

The closing campfire, at another awesome spot along Seneca Lake!
